This is the stage where the song is sonically cleaned up, and the artistic processing is added. It's like mixing all the ingredients of a cake together, and putting it in the oven. Mastering: Mastering is the art of taking a mixed stereo track to the finish line. This is the last step in the creation process, but the most critical. This is when the song is brought up to industry standard volume, and the sonic quality of the track is enhanced. This is like putting the icing on the cake, and adding a cherry on top.
